The Eco-Living Directory is an online directory of UK-based green, sustainable, fairtrade, organic, and natural products and services. It offers a quality presence to consumers, and effective, targeted advertising to businesses.

The Directory is hand-edited by our administrators to ensure quality and relevance.

Listing your business on the Directory

We would like the Directory to be the best on the web, which means we need lots of businesses across the range, both large and small, to provide the best service for visitors. Only listing the larger businesses who can afford to pay for a listing will hinder our intention; therefore the most basic listing option, Option One, is absolutely free. This option includes important business details - a description of your business, contact details, and the vital link to your website, something which many directories force you to pay for, but which ultimately makes your listing next to useless!

How to Apply: To apply for an Option One listing, you need to create an account, then visit your account area, select the 'Request a Listing' option in the right hand bar in your account area, and complete the form.

Other Options

As the directory grows, you may find your listing becomes 'lost in the crowd'. We therefore have several options to help your business get ahead of the rest, and noticed, on the Directory.

Option Two - Priority Listing

This option does exactly as it says - your listing is prioritised, placed above, the free listings in every category you're listed under. The listing is highlighted to ensure it stands out, you can add your logo and a product or promotional image to your listing details, and you'll appear in the right hand bar on the directory (this is rotated randomly with other priority listings). A priority listing costs just £50 per year.

How to Apply: Your business needs to have an Option One listing on the directory. Then simply log in to your account (contact us if you do not have one), click the 'Request Priority Listing' link in the right hand bar, complete the form, go through the checkout, and pay using your credit or debit card, cheque or BACS. (We will contact you regarding your logo and product/promotional image.)

Option Three - Banner Advertising

Banner advertising is another way of getting noticed. There are two banner advertising slots on the Directory - in the right hand bar, and underneath the page content, and these slots are sub-divided down into the three sections - the directory itself, the product directory, and articles, and another on the front page. The banner is rotated randomly with other advertisers, but we do limit the number of advertisers in each slot. Advertising in this way enables your business to appear on any page in the section(s) you choose.

How to Apply: Please contact us with details of your business if you would like to advertise in this way. You do not need to have a listing on the directory to display a banner. Available banner sizes are 468x60px, and 125x125px.

Option Four - List Individual Products

Extend your listing by adding a selection of your products to our searchable product database. You can list up to 20 products, and link them directly to the relevant page on your website, or to your directory listing where they will find your contact details. Random products from the database are displayed in other areas of the directory, including the home page!

It costs just £30 per quarter to list 20 products. If you break that down, that's just 50p per product, per month. If you choose to pay annually, the total cost per year is £110, giving you a month for free.

If you have a range of products, such as Ecover cleaning products, this could be listed as one item - ie. you don't have to list each one individually - you could list the entire range as one product.

As with business listings, all product listings are subject to approval. We limit the number of times the same or similar products are listed to ensure a good range of products is available, and multiple businesses wishing to list the same products will be treated on a first-come-first-served basis.

How to Apply: You need to have a priority listing (Option Two) to apply for this facility. Please contact us with your directory account number (which can be found in your account area), and details of the products you would like to list on the directory. If accepted, you'll need to supply an image (of good quality, and at least 200px wide), description, and price (if appropriate) for each product you wish to list.

Event Listings

If you are organising a 'green' event and would like some free publicity, please contact us to request a listing in our events database.

Add an Article

If you would like to add an article to the articles category, please contact us. This is a free service.

Article Links

If your business sells products relevant to one of our green articles, a link from the bottom of the article to your listing may help your business find its target audience. Price per link is £20 per year.

How to Apply: Your business needs to have an Option One or Option Two listing on the directory. Then simply log in to your account, click the 'Link Listing to Article' link in the right hand bar, complete the form, go through the checkout, and pay using your credit or debit card, cheque or BACS.
